Let’s talk about feet fellow athletes 🦶 We definitely don’t pay enough attention to our feet, yet we expect them to run marathons, do squat jumps and play football (just examples, pick any sport ☺️).
It’s essential to keep our feet healthy to avoid injuries - I’ve done all of these after my long runs over the weekend away and it felt amazing.
✨Simple mountain pose but exercise your feet and spread your toes individually on the mat - with practice you will gain more control over your toes.
✨Toe squat - now one of my favourite exercises but I know from experience it can be uncomfortable- start slow and work on stretching your feet and ankles.
✨Lifting cloth / sock off the mat - perfect mobility exercise for our feet - really reduced my pain in the arches.
✨Calf stretch with ankle rolls - very helpful after long runs.
✨Ankle rolls in downward facing dog and seated - include ankle mobility where you can - sounds small but I can definitely feel tightness in my ankle after hard training session.

Satya - truthfulness. When we look at it from perspective on being true with overselves we can see the importance of it for athletes and everyone else. In the world of constant productive it’s very easy to miss how our body is feeling or on the other hand find excuse for lack of the results.
Overtraining is an example when we not always live with the integrity - as a result we might not achieve the results we seek but also we can cause harm to our bodies (look at the episode 1 ahimsa).

Ahimsa - non-harm. Probably one of the most known yamas out there.
Very crucial for all athletes and non-athletes, especially in modern world - learn how to treat yourself with kindness, how to find balance but also how to not overdo things.
I know from experience how important ahimsa is - there is a reason why it is the 1st Yama. I was caught for years in perfections - focusing on optimising all life aspects can be stressful and doesn’t really lead to any good results.

Focusing on longevity seems to be a trend recently. Aging in inevitable but for me longevity is being able to be strong and healthy while we get older.
Yoga is a system which helps us take care of our body and mind in a gentle way. It helps us maintain range of movement, healthy joints and muscles but also healthy mind. It also encourages us to have healthy lifestyle which is all about balance - eating healthy but also enjoying life, looking after our community but also being comfortable with a solitude, managing stress levels but also knowing some challenge is needed to be stronger - sthira and sukha 🙏
I know from experience that none of the extremes will make us healthy, focusing on perfection or on 1% optimisation while dropping the basic will not ensure consistency which is essential to be healthy in a long run.
Next time when you see a new trend, see if you tick off all the basics first.

Being a perfectionist by nature can be good but also can be a source of stress. Yoga plays an important part in my process of reducing everyday stress.
✨ I am listening more to my body since I am more present and mindful thanks to meditation and asana practice.
✨I now know that body and mind work together and what we think impacts our overall wellbeing - less negative thoughts, better performance.
✨Hard to admit but I barely knew for a long time how to rest - being more present made me realise when I need to stop.

When we hear word stretching usually the first pose which comes to our mind is simple forward fold in a static position but there is more to stretching than we think.
Active stretching uses our own muscles strength - we contract one while stretch the other. It’s amazing as a warm and also post workout - there is recent reaserch saying that passive stretch after the workout is not improving flexibility. Loads of yoga poses are actually active stretches 🧘‍♀️
Passive stretching uses external force for example gravity - perfect for relaxation and targeting specific muscles - yin yoga is an amazing example of passive stretching.

Both have its place and use, nothing is better than the other.

If I were to choose one single pose to release legs fatigue I would recommend Viparita Karani - an inversion accessible to all. Such a simple restorative pose and so many benefits:
✨ improved blood circulation
✨ calmer mind
✨ reduced lower back pain
✨ if done before going to bed - improved sleep quality

Hips muscles tend to accumulate stress that’s why they are very often tense and tight after workouts.
After running marathons I could see significant difference in my hips flexibility that’s why now I try to incorporate hips mobility movements in my every practice.
✨ Lizard pose - do it on your hands, forearms or on the block. You can incorporate small movement to make it more active.
✨ Active yogi squat - instead of staying still, trying to add intuitive movement to the pose to further release tension.
✨ Happy baby - grab your feet, ankles or calfs if you can’t reach the feet. This pose always makes me happy.
✨Supta Baddha Konasana - take the soles of your feet together and let the knees open to the sides - amazing restorative movement to relax 🧘‍♂️

I’ve always heard how beneficial meditations are but for a long time I was struggling to stay consistent - it wasn’t until my yoga training when I committed to it fully and decided that out of many techniques this will be this one single thing I am going to do every day.
The benefits and changes I observed really impressed me and now I can’t stop talking about it.
Before starting the practice I was under a lot of stress, struggled to be patient and was overwhelmed by the never ending to do list - now although it’s a lifetime practice I can handle these things with much more ease and started to notice more the joys of every moment in a day. I also am able to handle uncomfortable situations better - like challenging training sessions.

Recovery isn’t a break from training - it is training.
Whether you are preparing for a race or competition or just did one - your body needs space to rebuild. Quite often rest is seen as a waste of time what results in overtraining or burnout. It doesn’t always have to be the whole day - even small snippets of self care during a day can make wonders.
That’s definitely something I keep reminding myself and quiet mornings with coffee and meditation are my daily reminders.

I am fascinated by how yoga techniques can help all of us reaching peak of the performance in sports or in life generally.
I am used to doing hard, repetitive training sessions on my own and some might find them boring - they aren’t boring if you shift your mindset.
I started focusing on single rep, single lap, single point not the whole session (of course thinking about 20 reps or 5h long match is draining). The minute you start being distracted come back to this single focus point - if this helps you can start counting the reps in your head. And just observe how you are feeling in the present moment - maybe your shoulders are tight, maybe your breath is off…I promise you it might be more interesting than just waiting for the training/challenge to end.

Even when we know yoga is good for us, it’s easy to feel discouraged if we can’t do every pose or aren’t the most flexible in class — sometimes we even stop showing up altogether.

As a yoga teacher, I’ll be honest… I’m not always the most flexible person in the room either. And that’s okay.

While doing other sports, yoga might not be the top priority for you - fitting one class per week will be beneficial and will complement the training plan not only physically but also mentally. Flexibility might also not be a priority or even essential for sports you are doing. It’s important to remember what is your priority and goal and not compare to the rest of the room.

Yoga will reconnect you with your body, calm the mind, help with mental resilience, keep your body mobile and many more.

While doing other sports, yoga might not be the top priority for you - fitting one class per week will be beneficial and will complement the training plan not only physically but also mentally. Flexibility might also not be a priority or even essential for sports you are doing. It’s important to remember what is your priority and goal and not compare to the rest of the room.

Yoga will reconnect you with your body, calm the mind, help with mental resilience, keep your body mobile and many more.

I’m a huge fan of standing balancing yoga poses - they are brilliant for ankle mobility, balance and focus. They will help you build muscles around the ankle what is crucial for injury prevention. Good not only for running on grass or hills but also cobbles or other sports with sudden change of directions.

Two races, two pictures - both seem to be similar - apart of the distance covered there is one more thing different between them - my state of mind. 2024 has been difficult for me from stress level perspective, anxiety and putting too much effort into things which didn’t really matter that much - like my pace or PBs… the minute I changed my mindset I not only got headspace and peace of mind but I also got PBs - without even thinking about them. Mindfulness and yoga has been transformational - I practice meditation and pranayama most days even for just 5-10 min - this is the only thing that changed, I still put in an effort into training like before (the best training from @natascha.runs @starrperformancecoaching ).
My yoga classes focus on strength and mobility but also on listening to our bodies and relaxation so that you can achieve yours goals too.

Props have sometimes bad reputation but they can be super useful for stretching to make the pose more accessible or to deepen the stretch. Here are some useful stretches for athletes in more accessible version - do it after the exercise and you will soon feel the difference! 1. Half splits with blocks to keep us elevated with our backs straight 2. Pyramid pose with blocks to keep our backs long 3. Hamstring stretch on a block to elevate hips and allow for deeper forward fold 4. Hamstring stretch with the belt 5. Since I started combining various types of movement I’ve seen amazing results at the gym, on yoga mat and at the running track. We really can have it all as even 20-30 min of yoga can have benefits (yes I know it’s hard to fit it all in!). I am not as flexible as full time yoga practitioner but I do feel stronger than ever before. Running gives me benefits of better endurance while yoga better mobility and strength what benefits my weight sessions at the gym and will help with maintaining the range of movement when I get older. Let’s not forget about the amazing benefits of stress management what helps with sleep and recovery - feels like as long as I keep this single thing under control everything else comes together 🙏 try to see what benefits different types of movement will bring you! #variety #running #yoga

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week!
One reason I dove deep into yoga was to manage stress better.

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of constant comparison and high self-expectations. Even in sport, something meant to help us unwind, we often push for PBs, chase goals, and pile on pressure—which ironically adds more stress. I learned this the hard way last year, juggling big running goals alongside everything else in life.

Here’s what really helped me rebalance:
1. Quiet time is powerful🧘‍♀️. Yoga, meditation, even 10 mindful minutes a day can give your mind and body the pause it craves—and help you tune into what you actually need.
2. Shift your focus inward 🏃‍♀️. Step back from constant goal-chasing. Reconnect with why you started. Community and joy > pressure and perfection.
3. Breathe 😮‍💨. Breathwork is magic for a racing mind—perfect before a race, a big day, or just any moment you feel overwhelmed.
4. Mindset matters 🙏. Injuries and setbacks aren’t great, but a shift in perspective can unlock new doors. @natascha.runs has some amazing posts on this - focus on opportunities.

Welcome to my page! I thought I will introduce myself here!
🏃�‍♀️🧘‍♀️ I am a 200h certified yoga teacher with a big passion for running. I completed 2 marathons and many half marathons over the course of recent years. I truly believe that combination of yoga and running while following a well designed training plan helped me avoid injuries. I decided to use my experience in movement and offer yoga for runners and other athletes to increase mobility, help preventing injuries and boost recovery. I truly believe yoga is longevity and I can’t wait to share it with you! I hope to see you on the mat soon!
